Rotary District Conference 2012 - Unforgettable!

Well what a wonderful weekend!  A weekend full of engaging speakers, delightful dancers and operatic singers in a stunning venue complete with the most delicious foods that stimulated our tastebuds. Feast for all senses.

Here is our own GSE member, Andrew Boast telling us of his excitment of the impending trip to the USA.  He hopes that he will learn much from our Texan counterparts in the field of mechatronic engineering and even did a robotic dance for us - Andrew will represent his vocation, his country and club well.

After salivating over the Texan GSE Teams boots, and spending 3 weeks looking for these particular boots online (even though they don't get delivered to Australia from the US), Marci, the Texan GSE Team Leader sold her pair to me for a bargain price of $120. Instant sale. My life is now complete because I will LIVE in these boots.  I couldn't help to admire them all the time and narrowly hit poles on the street as I keep looking down at my feet.

This was the quality of the food all weekend.  This entree prawn dish at the Saturday night was delicious.  Thanks to Jeffrey Tan who did the menu of the weekend event, we were well fed and all the dishes at the table were exceptional - standout.

The view of the evening at the National Gallery Hall - simply stunning.

Philip had to walk down St Kilda Road to the event in this get up and no one batted an eye lid - but many wanted his tee-shirt.

Pre-dinner drinks at Chez Kenny and Chapmans - this was the view out of their window.

These were the ornate table decordations made out of plant matter, real mushrooms and plastic.  They looked superb and thanks to Helene Brown for them. I managed to take one home at the end of the night.

Entertainment

The entertainment on Saturday night was HILARIOUS.  Recall the Three Tenors? Well we had the Three Waiters.  I thought they were real waiters but when they started their opera singers, I thought, "hello, the wait staff have gone downhill..." no really, they had a opera standoff between the French, Italian and Spanish guys.  It was agreed that this conference was one of the best conferences enjoyed in recent years.
